Do We Match

Privacy Policy

Updated August 4, 2026 · dowematch.org

The short version: no user account is required. We process the information you submit to create the comparison and any additional content you request. We also process limited feedback, purchase or redemption, operational, and security information so the service can work and be supported. Information you submit may be processed on or beyond your device, but only as needed to provide the service features you request.

What we process

How long it is kept

DataLifetime
Quiz progress kept on your deviceFor the current browser session unless you clear it sooner.
Private access links, recovery codes, and preferences kept on your deviceUntil you clear the site’s stored data; there is currently no automatic local expiry.
Pairing code and first submissionAvailable for 72 hours. After expiry the service refuses access; removal from active storage happens through later service cleanup, not at a guaranteed exact second.
Shared report, both submissions, requested conversations, and generated contentAvailable for 72 hours after both people finish. The first paid unlock applied to an existing free pairing may extend its current expiry once by a further 72 hours. After expiry the service refuses access; removal happens through later cleanup.
Limited purchase or redemption recordsThese currently have no automatic deletion schedule because they are used to prevent repeated redemption and resolve purchase issues.
Feedback and optional contact detailsDeleted about 180 days after they are submitted.
Anonymous activity and setup-choice totalsCounts only, with no identifiers attached. Deleted about 400 days after they are recorded.
Security and abuse-prevention recordsKept for short enforcement windows and removed once the window has passed.

Removal is carried out by a recurring cleanup task that deletes expired and out-of-window records, so the periods above are applied in practice rather than only on paper. Expired session and report content is refused by the service as soon as it expires, even in the short interval before cleanup removes the underlying record. If you want a copy of an available paid report, use its Save as PDF option before it expires; that file stays on your device.

How answers are shown

Your partner receives a shared comparison, not a raw copy of your full answer submission. The shared result can show nicknames, scores, aggregate alignment levels, and generated summaries. If you choose “A woman” or “A man” at setup, the pages your partner sees refer to you with the matching pronouns; choosing Non-binary or Prefer not to say, or skipping the question, uses “they” instead. Nothing else about that choice is shared, and it is never used in the written analysis. Relevant content from both submissions may be processed to create a shared analysis; an individual conversation uses that participant’s relevant content and messages. Safeguards are used to limit reproduction of the other person’s raw answers, but generated content cannot be treated as an absolute technical guarantee. A shared couple code does not identify either participant and cannot open either private conversation. Each participant receives a different personal recovery code; used with the shared couple link, it opens only that participant’s side. Keep personal recovery codes, report links, and conversation links secret because anyone holding one may be able to use it.

Questions and deletion

We do not maintain user accounts or a long-term personal profile that you can open and edit. Anonymous records may be impossible to link to you after their live window ends. To ask us to review deletion of an identifiable live session or a Feedback submission, email support@dowematch.org or use the Feedback button on the Home page and add a way to reply. We respond within 72 hours. Do not put answers, a private report link, or a redemption code in the form; after replying, we will ask only for the minimum reference needed to look for the record. Limited purchase, redemption, and operational records may still be retained for the purposes described above.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) gives you rights over personal information about you. Because this service works without accounts, most of what we hold is short-lived or cannot be linked back to you — but the rights below still apply to whatever remains identifiable.

To make a request, email support@dowematch.org or use the Feedback button on the Home page. We respond within 72 hours and complete verified requests within 45 days. Because there are no accounts, we may ask for the minimum reference needed to locate a record; if we cannot reasonably verify that a record is yours, we will tell you rather than delete someone else’s data. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission.

We have not sold or shared personal information, and have not disclosed it for business purposes, in the preceding 12 months.

Children

Do We Match is for adults — 18 or older. If you believe a minor submitted data, email support@dowematch.org or use the Feedback button on the Home page and add a way to reply. Do not include answers, private links, or license keys in that first message; we will ask for the minimum information needed to check whether a still-identifiable record can be removed.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it. No silent edits.
